Accountability

GOD IS HOLY. AND YOU ARE NOT. NOW WHAT?

One day soon, you are going to meet your Creator, and you will be held accountable by Him…

The Bible says we are all sinners, and yet God is perfect in holiness and righteousness.

How can we face Him?

How will we justify ourselves before Him on that day?!

The scriptures say we cannot. In fact, no man can.

Even the “best” person you know of is a sinner before God, falling short of God’s perfect demands.

Just take a look at the 10 Commandments and you’ll see that no man can keep them perfectly for his whole life.

And the book of Romans reminds us of our human righteousness compared to God’s:

ROM 3:10-12 “as it is written,

“THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE;

THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS,

THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD;

ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD, THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE.”

ROM 3:23 ” for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”

Therefore, we all have a BIG problem. And the Bible says that God cannot even look upon sin.

HAB 1:13a “Your eyes are too pure to approve evil, And You can not look on wickedness with favor…”

In His holy righteousness, He must judge sin.

God is perfect Justice, and as the perfect Judge in heaven, He must do the right thing, always. That includes pronouncing us guilty.

But thank God, He is also perfect Love. His love is so great, that He came up with a gracious solution to our guilt, an indescribable way to save us.

He humbled Himself into the form of a man, to become the substitute for all men, receiving our judgment upon Himself!

PHI 2:5-8 “Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”

If that isn’t love, I don’t know what is. Imagine willingly dying to save your enemies. That’s what our Lord did for us sinners. What more could God possibly do, to prove His love for you?

As your Redeemer, Christ purchased your freedom from sin, and death, and the price was His own blood.

EPH 1:7 “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace”

In fact, another reason we know Jesus is God in the flesh is because the Bible says God shed His own blood for us.

ACT 20:28 “Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.”

But God is Spirit, according to the scriptures. He doesn’t have blood, so how could that be? Unless, He entered into humanity, limiting Himself to flesh, and subjected Himself to suffering and death in the Person of Jesus of Nazareth.

Our God and Savior, Jesus Christ, redeemed mankind through the price He paid on the cross.

TIT 3:4-7 “But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”

If a man could save himself, being good enough to earn his way to God, why would the Lord have gone to such extremes?!

It must have been absolutely necessary. There was no other way for man to be saved.

ROM 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

And so, Jesus Christ laid Himself down as the ‘sacrificial Lamb’.

JOH 1:29-30 “The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! “This is He on behalf of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.’

The Lord Jesus Christ was judged by God the Father, for our sins, so that we could receive eternal life, and have peace with God, forever!

So, now what? What’s your part in all of this?

You must repent of your sinfulness. You must admit your guilt before your God and Creator.

If we humble ourselves before Him, He will grant us a repentant heart, and He will also give us faith, to believe in His Son Jesus for eternal life.

EPH 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

It’s a heart issue, between each person and the Lord. God is after the surrender of our hearts.

The Lord Jesus, Himself, tells us to repent, and believe in the gospel.

MAR 1:14-15 “Now after John had been taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

“Repent” means to change your mind, which results in a changed life. God wants you to turn away from your sinfulness, and self-righteousness, and turn to Him instead. You are a sinner, and you DO need God to save you.

Right now, in your “heart of hearts”, you need to admit to God that you’re a sinner. Fall on your knees before your God and Creator, and turn to Christ in faith, because He and He alone is your Redeemer.

ROM 10:8-10 “But what does it say? “THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.”

Eternal salvation doesn’t depend on your own righteousness, or your own goodness, but upon personally trusting in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

JOH 3:16-18 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

It’s between you and the Lord. God is holy. YOU are not.

But you can have peace with your God and Creator, if you surrender to Him in humility, believing in His Son Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

Tell Him right now. Don’t wait any longer. Today is the day of salvation.

HEB 3:12 “Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God.”

And there are NO SECOND CHANCES after death.

HEB 9:27-28 “And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him.”

Will you be one who is eagerly waiting for His return, by faith, to be saved by Him forever and ever?

After all, all men will see one day that He is the “King of kings and Lord of lords”. REV 19:16

And every tongue will have to confess one day who He really is; and everyone’s knees will bow to the true God and Savior of mankind, even those who are against Him.

PHI 2:9-11 “For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Which side will you be on on that Day? The choice is yours…

ACT 16:30-31 “and after he brought them out, he said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved? They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
