In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. – Joh 1:1-3,14
Many a person will be shocked when it’s time to face God and the Great White Throne Judgment (Rev 20:11-15).
Ultimately, it will be because they rejected the Truth found in God’s Word about Jesus Christ.
And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, – Heb 9:27
We humans like to think we’re smarter than we are, coming up with our own conclusions and rationales, but never close to complete and pure like God’s thoughts are!
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. – Isa 55:8-9
For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. – Rom 12:3
Let’s face it, we like to justify ourselves, claiming we’re “not that bad”, while at the same time saying and doing things we know are wrong to get what we want out of life.
Please excuse this imperfect analogy, but I hope it will make the point. I think of the “Wild West”, a term used to describe the western United States of America during the late-1800’s, as people moved out to unsettled territories to claim some land and start a new life, or even to find gold.
Back then, people also went out west because there was very limited government and law enforcement. They could do what they wanted and get away with it. And honestly, that’s what our sinful flesh is like, and we all have one as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; – Rom 3:10
But then would come along that Sheriff the One who had the quickest gun, as well as the authority to enforce the law.
My friends; those who refuse to surrender to God and Christ will rue the day! Their conscience will never die, as Jesus alluded to when talking about the place of “outer darkness”, where there will be “weeping and gnashing of teeth”! (Mat 13:40-42, Mar 9:43-48)
In essence, when they die, they will have a showdown with the Word of God, the Bible.
As the Lord Jesus Himself said;
I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness. If anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. The one who rejects me and does not receive my words has a judge; the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day. – Joh 12:46-48
But much better to surrender to God and His way of salvation NOW than to put it off and one day be found wanting before our all-powerful, just and holy God!
To be “found wanting” means to be judged, tested, and found not good enough or lacking what is needed.
Read your Bible NOW, my friend, with a humble heart, and be ready to submit to what you see there.
Start with Jesus’ own words in the 4 Gospels, knowing He is our Lord, God and Savior in the flesh, who came to save us from ourselves!!
He (Jesus) said to them, “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. – Joh 8:23
For I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment—what to say and what to speak. And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I say, therefore, I say as the Father has told me.” – Joh 12:49-50
Don’t let your pride get you into a showdown with the Greatest Sheriff of all time; the Lord Jesus Christ!
I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom. – 2Ti 4:1
The Bible often depicts Truth as a weapon against sin and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God – Eph 6:17
And His Word cuts like a knife, down to the joints and the marrow!
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account. – Heb 4:12-13
Instead of getting into a showdown with God Almighty, turn to Him in humility and receive the amazing grace He’s willing to grant you!
It’s called the gift of eternal life, ala Romans 6:23, which He purchased for you on the Cross 2000 years ago with His own precious blood!
The Lord Jesus, who IS The Word, as we began with, says this: “repent and believe in the gospel.” – Mark 1:15c
In other words, the time it short. Don’t assume you’re OK with God on your own. None of us are.
There were some present at that very time who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
And he answered them, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way?
No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.” – Luk 13:1-5
Jesus also said this: For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” – Luk 19:10
And “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. – Joh 3:16-18
He wants to save you, but it’s between each of us and the Lord. Cry out to Him for mercy and He will save you, even from yourself.
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. – 2Pe 3:9
For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” – Rom 10:13
Praise the Holy, Merciful Creator of the universe, and praise His only Son Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior! The time is NOW!
